Ivanti Portal Manager Links

Hello,

We are moving from LD 2016 to Ivanti 2017.3 . In our corporate network we are used to launch common applications (especially web) from the Ivanti Portal Manager LaunchPad. When the client is new, it's not a problem: the links and icons are synced from the scratch.

In the case the client had the previous LanDesk Agent the links are duplicated or are the old ones. The links are in the path C:\ProgramData\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\LaunchPad . If I remove manually the links, and let the new agent drop the new ones, everything is fine.

Does exist a command line for the agent that do that (kinda clean DB, etc...)? Maybe forcing a script after the new agent is installed, and how?

Thanks a lot. F.

Issues installing Citrix Receiver 4.10

I am wanting to install Citrix Receiver 4.10 on some Windows 10 devices (mostly Anniversary but have also tried newer versions)

I am using a batch file to run the Citrix Receiver Cleanup utility to uninstall the current version, then add a reg entry before installing 4.10

If i run this on the laptop manually it works so I know the batch file is good.

If i run this from Ivanti it uninstalls but when it tries to install 4.10 I get an error:

SelfServicePlugin.exe - The application could not be started
This application could not be started.
Do you want to view information about this issue?

When clicking for more info it opens a browser saying:

The app is not configured in a way that makes it possible to determine the appropriate version of the .NET framework runtime.  The corresponding shim code is SHIM_NOVERSION_FOUND

You can fix the configuration problem yourself. Contact the app vendor to resolve the issue.

As i can manually run the batch file and install it I can't see why the above is pertinent (and i followed them anyway to no avail).

Can anyone help please?!

Cheers

Will Software Distribution Download continue after the device is restart?

Hi,

I have a scenario here on the software distribution:

If I'm required to push a 3GB software to a client device. While pushing the 3GB software to client and the status is "downloading 50%", then the client turn off the their device.

Question:

1. When the client turn back on their device, will the download continue at 50% or it will start the download again?

2. If the download will continue at 50%, do I required to configure any specific setting?

In place upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10

This is my first time posting but I have been trying to get a package built to use an unpacked iso to do an upgrade.  I was following the instructions from this posting (Windows 7 to Windows 10 1703 Inplace Upgrade ) but my packages hang on installing or when I tweak the command prompts I also see a Client has started processing task and nothing ever happens.

Under Install/Uninstall options I have /auto upgrade /quiet .  Has anyone else had success in doing in place upgrades?

Thanks,

Doug

Software Distribution no longer silent during provisioning.

I've built about a dozen software distribution packages that all silently install quite nicely. When I build a provisioning template and add each of these distribution packages using the "Distribute Software" task, some of them will display windows and other bits of UI on the client-end during installation, despite originally being silent. One of them even had a prompt for reboot that I was forced to decline on the client machine before it would continue to the next task. I've tried unchecking "Show client UI" in the provisioning template's "options" area, but this just disables the UI for the provisioning task itself, not the UI that comes up from the individual distribution packages.

What gives? Is there some way to make all of this silent once again?

find all software installed on a single computer

Hey guys,

I'm trying to find a way to display a report of all software installed for a single computer.

I know I can go into the machine's inventory and look at the software installed, but there's no way to export that data only an Import function.  Or is there a hidden export feature?

thanks,

"Download pending" status in Portal Manager after Windows suspends.

$

Hi, the reason of this thread is the following.

I use Ivanti Portal Manager in a lot of computers in my organization. When I start Windows and try to install any software from Portal Manager, it works fine. But after the computers get suspended (and resumed), locked or just used for other things for a couple hours, the Portal Manager stops working ok.

When any user try to install a software, the progress bar in the Portal stays in "Download pending" forever, at the moment the only solution I've found was restart the computer, but is not practical at all for the user...

I've tried restarting manually the Ivanti services but doesn't work, and looked for similar posts in the community but doesn't found anyone reporting the same problem, which is weird.

Ivanti 2017 v3.

Windows 8.1, 10

Let me know if I can help adding any other info.

Thanks in advance!

How to publish provisioning template to Portal?

$

I have seen references in some places about being able to publish provisioning templates in the portal.  But no matter what I do, I am unable to get it to show up in my portal.

About the Portal Manager

Adding items to Portal Manager

The default Portal Manager deployment doesn't include any launchpad items. Use software distribution to add items to Portal Manager.

Items you can add to Portal Manager include:

  • Mobile Android and Apple iOS packages
  • Universal links, streamed documents, and OS provisioning templates

This is what I ended up doing, though it did not work.

I created the os provisioning template and added actions.  In Distribution Packages I made a new universal package | Provisioning.  I included the template I had created before.  I created scheduled task, went into the task, associated it to my workstation, set it to policy push, kicked it off.  It shows as active in the progress window but nothing ever shows up in the Portal, even after I refresh it.  I can add and remove typical distribution packages and it is reflected in the Portal window, so I know I can get some things to work.

I looked around and have yet to find documentation showing how to do this.  Anyone know where such documentation would be?

Can we create an endpoint (landesk) 2017.3 agent without software distribution

We have IT who need the agent installed but never had software deployed to them.  They would however need to go thru the portal manager to get applications.  is there a way to configure the agent to not have the software distribution agent installed.  It's grayed out.

How can I run portal tasks without a network connection?

$

I have an executable that i created that allows an end user to enable network connections that have been disabled. (Our users are not admins)

I thought i could precache the executable for a day it is needed and then allow them to run a task from the portal so they can run it as system.

It seems though that the portal manager doesn't look at the sdmcache and still tries to download the files so the job always fails.

Pushing Sites to Internet Explorer Trusted Sites

Hello,

in our organization we do not have access to group policy so this is an out for us.

What method is best to choose to push websites to the trusted site list for Internet Explorer.

So far I have been unsuccessful and have tried adding a registry key to do this:

The distribution runs successful, but it does not show up in the Trusted Site list or even in the registry.  I have tried "64bit" and "Not Applicable" under "Architect Options"

Content Replication on 2 Preferred Servers - Lost Contact

$

We currently have 11 Preferred Servers which each also acts as the Replicator. With this being the case we have a patches folder (D:) and also the sdmcache folder (C:) becomes populated.

Last week we became concerned that the sdmcache folders were taking up a large amount of disk space. Therefore we decided to "limit the number of days file are kept in the cache" to 14 days from within Run options of the Preferred server options. Replicaton ran over night but the sdmcache folder was still the same size.

We contacted support who informed us that this was controlled via "Client Connectivity Settings".Configured a new Client Connectivity settings called Preferred Server Client Connectivity Settings with "number of days files stay in cache" set to 14. And pushed this successfully to two preferred servers as a test.

Content replication then ran overnight.

Next day checked Content Replication task history to make sure this had been successful, which it had. Checked the sdmcache folder and this was still the same size.

We decided to run "Start content replication now" against both preferred servers to look at a log file but after 10 minutes the Status of requested actions "Lost contact" on both. Decision was then made to revert both servers back to the original Client Connectivity settings they previously had.

Problem now is that the task created for this constantly sits at an ACTIVE state and never changes. Checking the inventory of these two Preferred Servers shows that they are still using the new settings created above.

We have checked the other 9 preferred servers who have the original settings and these are all able to replicate with no issues.

Also strangely enough the scheduled replication seems to have been succesful over night!? BUT still the sdmcache folder is the same size. We have checked all ports are open and they are. We have also checked client access and all approved.

Could anyone help with this rather time consuming issue!?

Thanks

Neil
